Today the most important and evolved mechanical companies use mechatronic technologies. And it is in this ambit that the professional figure of the Higher Technician in Mechatronic Systems becomes necessary and they also find employment in the manufacturing sector dedicated to the production of hydraulic components, power and transmission systems, engines, agricultural mechanics components, automation plant and electronic components.


The Higher Technician in Mechatronics Systems operates making use of design, industrialization, planning, production and quality management software to produce manufacturing products in the mechanics, mechatronics, automation and robotics segments.


  • Technical Office, dealing with mechanical and electronic design
  • Production planning, industrialization and engineering department technician
  • Testing and metrology department technician
  • Quality control and continuous improvement technician
  • Technician dealing with the management and maintenance of automated plant
  • Expert in assembly following tasks such as diagnostics, repairs and improvement in locations in Italy and abroad

2.000 hours, 800 of which involve a didactic internship in a company.


The course offers the possibility to do an internship in various European countries either as a curricular activity (within the training path itself) or as an extracurricular activity (in addition to the course hours envisaged in the course)

Percentage of students who have successfully completed ITS MAKER courses and are currently employed in companies in relevant sectors, with roles that are coherent with the course profile.


  • the two-year training course is designed for 22 students with a secondary school diploma preferably of a technical or scientific nature.
  • It is divided in four semesters for a total of 2000 hours, 800 of which involve didactic internship/project work in important local companies and industries in the following segments: mechatronics, hydraulics, electrotechnics and automation, engines.
  • Preliminary extracurricular re-alignment courses in mathematics, mechanics, electronics, technologies and English are organized taking into account the initial knowledge of participants admitted.
  • Attendance is compulsory with a minimum participation of 80% of the total hours and the course is free of charge, apart from a 200 Euro admission fee
  • The course is heavily oriented to the “know-how” culture, to work and professional development
  • The focus is on a pratical laboratory teaching methodology, alternated with theoretical lessons in the classroom and in companies, practical tasks and group work in laboratories with specialist software. along with visits and project work in companies.


The majority of teaching is entrusted to professionals from the world of work and in particular specialized company technicians operating in mechatronics, hydraulics, engine and industrial automation. They are involved right from the start in course planning and they accompany students in the class activities in internships and in project work in companies.


  • Students who pass the final exam are issued with a Higher Level Technician diploma indicating the technological area of the national reference figure ( V level EQV) HIGHER TECHNICIAN REGARDING PROCESS INNOVATION AND MECHANICAL PRODUCTS
  • The diploma allows access to public selection processes and to Universities with the recognition of University Training Credits.
  • In addition successful candidates will receive a EUROPASS certificate in Italian and English language
  • If successfully completed it represents the equivalent of the practicing period required to sit the state exams to be recognized within the Industrial Technician profession


The ITS MAKER Foundation welcomes canditatures of teachers who would like to come forward on the basis of the call for trainers for the four sites of Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia and Fornovo (PR).
Teachers must have matured in the subjects relating to the course they are interested in at least:

  • Five years of experience, if from the working world,
  • Three years of teaching experience, if from the world of School, University and Professional Training
