Professional profile

The “Senior Technician for Automation, Robotics and Digitalisation of Industrial Production” works in the design and programming of mechatronic, robotic and automation systems for various production sectors. They oversee their implementation, assembly, programming, installation, maintenance, testing and development, including at the end user’s site. They are able to manage information processes, quality control techniques and final testing, to apply design and production simulation procedures using digital techniques, and to adopt Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) criteria and product-process sustainability principles.

Career opportunities

They can work in companies that develop products for Industrial Automation or in manufacturing companies that use automated systems (e.g. companies in the manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical and biomedical, agri-food sectors, etc.), carrying out system design, assembly and maintenance, production process automation, PLC programming, and process digitalisation and integration.

Teamwork module

The course includes transversal skills modules focused on teamwork, organizational communication and basic leadership. These competencies are essential to apply technical know-how effectively within company organizations.

The course alternates classroom-based theory with practical learning in companies through labs, project work, business simulations, meetings with entrepreneurs and company visits.

Alignment courses

Initial alignment modules in Mechanics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and English are provided based on admitted students’ entry-level skills.

More than 40% of total course hours are dedicated to educational internships in some of the most important companies in the mechanical, mechatronics, powertrain and automation sectors in Emilia-Romagna.
