ITS MAKER Academy and the Coronavirus emergency
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely tested Italian and global society and has significantly limited school and training activities. Like everyone else, ITS MAKER Academy could not be exempt from this impact.
However, we have done everything possible to ensure educational continuity for our students and to maintain the training relationship with companies, even when many of them were working remotely or using furlough schemes.
We all hope that the coming school years will be free from the constraints experienced in 2020 and 2021. In any case, thanks to the experience gained during this period, we will continue to offer you a training experience that helps you grow and move closer to the world of work.
ITS MAKER Academy faced the pandemic period by adopting all the measures needed to keep course participants, teachers, collaborators and all staff safe.
Especially in a training programme that is strongly based on hands-on and lab activities, the impact of COVID-19 has been particularly challenging, both for students and for the organisation.
ITS MAKER Academy quickly implemented not only all the procedures required to deliver distance learning activities, but also looked for new solutions for the use of laboratories and identified technical support for students who were struggling to follow lessons remotely.
Dealing with the pandemic in the safest possible way has been a top priority for ITS MAKER Academy. At the same time, it has allowed us to improve and make QUALITY INVESTMENTS that will remain in place in the future, even after the pandemic. In particular:
- Upgrading laboratory facilities in preparation for the full return of all classes to in-person activities
- Developing methods for remote connection to virtual machines, in order to allow access to lab software from home
- Investing in professional digital collaborative platforms, so that our students can further develop digital teamwork skills, which are increasingly in demand in the labour market
- Setting up an internal working group that, through dialogue with teachers and students, supports the ongoing improvement of distance learning
- Supporting participants in difficulty by providing IT equipment to follow lessons remotely
- Carrying out the allowed laboratory activities in person in complete safety, with the definition of all safety protocols
- Holding final diploma examinations in compliance with safety regulations, with the possibility to take them remotely in the event of students testing positive or being placed in quarantine by the health authorities
